Introduction

Yeah, we didn't lie, not even one bit: today we'll show you a deck without any lands that you can bring home and call yours.

I played this list quite a bit, and can say, with all certainty, it is incredibly fast. Despite this, I can't say I built it because this strategy has been popular online for a few months now. I'm only here to make this stroke of genius even more popular!

This is one of the fastest decks in the format. In fact, it can win matches even before you finish reading this article. Let's see how this monstrosity works, and why it will make your opponents regret not having a free counter in hand!

The Strategy

This deck only has one goal: to win as fast as possible.

Reyhan, Last of the Abzan is completely irrelevant to our strategy. It will only give us the colors we want. As for our dear Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh, it will give us a free commander, as well as many powerful spells, like Deflecting Swat, Jeska's Will, Infernal Plunge, and others. It is like a powerful ritual in our command zone!

Now, why not use 5 colors? Well, our mana base is terrible, and wouldn't be able to support this. Furthermore, other combinations of Rog wouldn't have Magic Symbol G and Magic Symbol B, which are very important to this strategy.

Here's our decklist!

The Main Combo

This deck leans on an auto-mill strategy. It will destroy itself all at once with the following cards:

Loading icon

Balustrade Spy's ETB mills our entire deck, as we don't play lands.

Destroy the Evidence destroys one of our MDFCs and mills our entire list.

Undercity Informer is similar to Balustrade Spy, but you'll have to pay one and sacrifice it to use its effect.

Avenging Druid is the worst option in this list, as it has to deal combat damage and is a 1/1.

Hermit Druid is the cheapest in terms of mana, but milling your entire deck with it is a bit harder.

As soon as any of these cards resolve, your entire deck will go to your graveyard, and that's when you'll start winning!

Combo Line

Here's a simple step-by-step to win:

1. Use any of the cards mentioned above to throw your entire deck into your graveyard.

2. Put at least three creatures in play. One can be Rog, which is free.

3. Resolve Dread Return from your graveyard, sacrifice three creatures, and Reanimate Necrotic Ooze.

4. If your opponents interrupt it, use Turn the Earth to play the cards you need from the top of your deck, and try again next turn.

Please note: this deck is notoriously one of the fastest decks in the format. It often wins on turn 2 or 3.

Post-Mill Combo Lines

Be patient, because it all gets more difficult now!

Necrotic Ooze Infinite Mana Loop

Pre-requisites: No key piece is exiled + Necrotic Ooze is in play.

Necrotic Ooze will have the abilities of Devoted Druid (so it'll untap infinitely), Morselhoarder (create mana), Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei (give haste to your creatures), and Deathrite Shaman (exile lands to deal damage directly).

To be clear:

1 → Use Devoted Druid's ability to put a -1/-1 counter on Necrotic Ooze.

2 → Use Morselhoarder's ability to remove a counter and create one mana.

3 → Repeat this as much as you want.

4 → Give haste to your creatures with Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei.

5 → Exile the instants and sorceries in your graveyard to drain everyone (you have enough of them)!

Warren Soultrader and the Backup Plan

Every once in a while, things will go wrong, and you'll have to use this alternative plan to win.

Loading icon

1. Use Dread Return to bring back Warren Soultrader.

2. Sacrifice your Zombies and Poxwalkers to create mana (you'll trigger these creatures when you cast Return).

3. Unearth Molten Gatekeeper.

4. Cast Gravecrawler again from your graveyard as many times as you want, looping it with Warren Soultrader.

5. Kill everyone.

For each one life you pay, your opponents lose two - you only need to have enough life.

Tips

How Do I Create Creatures After Milling Myself?

If you have 0 creatures in play after you mill your entire deck:

Unearth Molten Gatekeeper, and bring back Poxwalkers. Sacrifice a Poxwalkers with Cabal Therapy, and create Zombies with Bridge from Below (you'll also be able to see an opponent's hand and even discard a card, possibly). At this point, you can also cast Gravecrawler because you'll control a Zombie. Furthermore, Rog is always an option.

Disruption and Answers

This deck is fast, but not unbeatable. Here are some ways to get rid of pesky permanents:

Ancient Grudge can remove any Stax piece in your way.

Diregraf Rebirth is the second Reanimate you can use after you mill your entire deck.

Cabal Therapy can discard a spell from an opponent's hand for free.

Turn the Earth protects your cards from being exiled, and gives you a second chance to win.

You can exile Jack o' Lantern to filter mana if you're struggling with colors.

Phantasmagorian can discard combo pieces that are stuck in your hand.

Furthermore, we play a few removals and protections common in these colors, like Abrupt Decay and similar.

Mulligan: The Secret to Success

In my experience, the strategy at this point is simple: go for an aggressive mulligan.

If your hand can't try to win until turn 3, throw it out. Yes, even 4 cards. This deck can work with just a few cards, and the odds are on your side, though you'll often have to mulligan to 0...

Budget

Usually, at the end of every article, we include a cheaper version of our main list so you can play it without going bankrupt.

However, this time, we can't. Because of how fast and aggressive this list is, as well as the fact it doesn't play any lands, a budget list would completely destroy the entire strategy, unfortunately.

Final Words

This deck is no joke. It is the most fragile glass cannon among glass cannons, a suicide list to win, as I've seen a few players call it, and a nightmare for unprepared tables. If you don't enjoy slow matches, or you just want to catch your friends off-guard, it is perfect. This list will force you to play to win as if your life depended on it, and as fast as you can.
