In a recent shareholder meeting, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocs announced that the upcoming Magic: The Gathering expansion in partnership with the Spider-Man universe will not include preconstructed Commander decks.
Unlike previous Universes Beyond collaborations like Final Fantasy and Lord of the Rings, which featured Commander decks, the Spider-Man set will consist exclusively of Standard-legal cards. Chris explained that this decision will make the set's sales "a bit smaller" compared to its predecessors.

“And then Spider-Man, we feel that will do well. Now I think the important thing to note on Spider-Man is that it's a little bit of a different complexion of a set in terms of what's incorporated into it. Final Fantasy and Lord of the Rings had Commander decks, which usually constitute a fairly big hunk of a set's total volume. Spider-Man will be Standard only cards. There won't be any, kind of, precon decks, so that will make it a bit smaller.”

When answering a question, Chris also revealed that pre-orders for Final Fantasy bundles sold out in an hour, indicating that the expansion has the potential to become the best-selling Magic: The Gathering set of all time - a title currently held by Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, released in June 2023.
Marvel's Spider-Man does not yet have a confirmed release date and is scheduled to come out after Edge of Eternities and before the Magic's collaboration with Avatar, the Last Airbender
, scheduled for November 21.
